Event information & FAQs
Information for paid support roles
-
You’ll have the chance to meet other spouses and military community members, share experiences, and support families who are just moving in.
You will also be working alongside members of the military business community and other SMEs, allowing you to expand your professional network and gain valuable insights into community initiatives. The event is a great way to spend a rewarding day, meet new people, and be part of something bigger.
Oh! You'll be paid too! Win Win!
-
e50K are passionate about helping the Armed Forces Community. If you are partner, spouse or directly related to a member of the Armed Forces Community then you can apply for a paid role at our Pack Day.
-
Yes, if you are allocated a space then you will be on temporary freelance contract with us for this event. (We only have a limited budget for paid volunteers per pack, so not everyone at the event will be being paid).
If we have received your signed contract and you sign in and out of the event, we will process your payment within 2 working days of the event.
-
We have changed the process for applying for paid opportunities, to go through our volunteer app, so if you have already signed up to that, we can use those details. If you have yet to do that, you will need to register on the app, which will save your details and ensure we don’t have to do a full registration each time.
-
All paid opportunities will appear as roles in our volunteer app. To secure a paid place, you’ll need to apply through the app so we can keep everything organised and fair.
If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t worry - it’s quick and straightforward, and our team can guide you through it if you need help.
If your application is successful, you’ll receive a notification through the app, followed by a contract to sign (also in the app). Once your contract is signed, we’ll confirm your place at the pack.
And if technology isn’t usually your thing, that’s absolutely fine. There will always be someone available to support you through the process.
-
We ask for your bank details on the onboarding form. This is the account we will use to process your payment.
We endeavour to process all payments within 10 working days of the pack. If you haven't received your payment within 28 days, please get in touch!
-
Yes, there will be other opportunities for paid work with e50K. Our Communities branch aims to build a network of community projects across the UK Armed Forces estate, addressing issues like social isolation, deprivation, and mental health. We do this by offering employment, education, and volunteering opportunities to help create sustainable community spaces that bring people together.
You can check out other job opportunities on the Volunteero App or on our website.
-
We endeavour to process all payments within 7 working days of the pack. If you haven't received your payment within 28 days, please get in touch!
About the day
-
Amey & e50K’s flagship communities project, MYIP supports families moving into Amey-managed Service Family Accommodation by providing beautiful, eco-friendly Welcome Boxes — filled with ethically sourced products from small businesses that share our values.
Each box offers both practical essentials and a warm welcome, helping families settle in with a smile 😊. Profits are reinvested into our local community garden project, Bramble Woods, extending the impact far beyond the doorstep.
-
To make this happen, Amey & e50K host two packing & networking events each year—bringing together businesses, SMEs, and the military community to not only pack these boxes but to connect, collaborate, and learn. This year's events take place on Friday 16th May and Friday 28th November 2025.
-
🕘 Arrival – 09:00 Once you’ve signed into camp at the guard room, make your way to the hangar where the Amey & e50K teams will welcome you. You’ll then be asked to sign into the event using the link we provided—this helps us track engagement, measure impact, and ensure compliance, so please make sure to complete this step.
☕ Welcome & Icebreaker – 09:00–09:30 Grab a cuppa and get settled before our welcome session. We’ll introduce the day, run a short icebreaker, and share why this project is so important for social value. (Icebreaker: You’ll be grouped by the number on your badge and given some conversation starters to chat through for around 10 minutes.)
📦 Packing Begins – 10:00–11:45 You’ll be shown the packing process and assigned to your stations, two assembly lines, with a bit of healthy competition encouraged!
🍽️ Lunch – 13:00 A buffet-style lunch will be provided. This is a great chance to catch up, share progress, and refuel before the afternoon session.
🌿 To Bramble Woods – 13:30–15:00 In the afternoon, we will head to Bramble Woods to see the wider reach of this MYIP project.
Wrap-Up & Finish – 15:00
Our community armed forces day celebration will be starting at 15:15 on the friday and we would love you to stay on for that too.

For People in the hangar: You’ll be part of the assembly line, helping to put together MYIP welcome packs for shipment to Amey depots, ready to be distributed to new military families.
For the Bramble Woods Teams: You’ll be helping out on site, getting stuck in and learning more about what we do and how this space addresses our core hireachy of needs.
Throughout the day, there will also be breakout sessions for discussion and networking, along with opportunities to learn more about social value and its real-world impact.
-
Absolutely. That is partly what this initiative is all about! Our packs are supported by paid workers (spouses, partners and civilian friends and family) from the area who are a friendly and approachable group. Upon your arrival we will ask if you have packed with us before - if you haven't we will 'buddy' you up with an expert who will also introduce you to all our volunteers.
If you would like to meet people before then consider joining our Facebook group or getting in touch with our Volunteer Manager at Bramble Woods.
-
Firstly, Congratulations! We completely understand and don't worry - there are plenty of jobs such as leaflet folding, quality checking and stock checking which can all be done either sat down or at brief intervals to support any stage of pregnancy. We would suggest getting in touch before the day to talk through your needs with us.
-
We believe the ripple effect of this project should reach far beyond the families receiving the packs. Our mission is to expand this initiative nationwide, and we need partners to help us achieve this. By experiencing the project firsthand, you become part of the story—seeing social value in action 🌍 and understanding how we can all contribute to meaningful change.
By turning the packing process into an event, we create a space where businesses, SMEs, and the military community can come together, experience the impact firsthand, and see social value in action 🌍. It’s not just about assembling welcome packs—it’s about building connections, sharing knowledge, and inspiring long-term change.
This event gives you a powerful opportunity to learn more about social value, network with like-minded professionals, and explore how your business can contribute to a movement that drives real impact. Together, we can make a lasting difference 💡.

This is a warehouse, so wearing appropriate clothing and footwear is essential.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes.
Some groups will be heading to Bramble Woods - so we recommend bringing waterproofs and wellies.
Other than that, you need photo id to get onto the base, and a can do attitude!
-
This depends on your preference and the number of volunteers we have on the day.
This year we are only packing in the mornings, and are asking all visitors to join us for the afternoon at Bramble woods.
-
Ideally, we’d love for you to stay all day, but we understand that time is precious. In the past, some volunteers have joined for just the morning, stayed for lunch, or arrived in the afternoon. However, we recommend staying for the full day, if possible, to make the most of the experience.
-
This is no problem at all. We would suggest getting in touch before the day to talk through your needs with us - this will ensure we can make any adjustments needed before the day.
-

A Mini Impact Report is a concise summary of the positive difference your involvement has made. It highlights key outcomes, achievements, and benefits resulting from your contribution. For example, in the Amey/e50K project, it might include the number of families helped, the types of support provided, or the impact of your volunteering hours. You can use this report to showcase your efforts to stakeholders, include it in company newsletters, share it on social media, or incorporate it into CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities to demonstrate the tangible benefits of your community involvement.
-
You still need to sign up but as long as you are on our system then you’ll be able to skip some of the sections this time around.

Afterwards, you'll receive a mini-impact report, a concise summary of positive impacts, providing measurable outcomes of your involvement, valuable for your business and CSR reporting.
It’s a rewarding and purposeful experience that strengthens connections, broadens perspectives, and delivers tangible impacts.
-
Absolutely. You can claim all the hours you are with us. Our standard pack day is 8 hours which equates to 1 volunteer day, however, we will not be able to pay you in addition to your employer.
