What’s happening …..The Catterick Project

The Bramble Woods site is starting to take shape!  With the site now cleared, we were able to plant 144 trees at our big tree planting event on the 28th January as well as the planning out the site for the newly delivered polytunnels at the allotment.  Tivoli have kindly donated 10 tonnes of high quality mulch which will be going into our raised beds and be part of the pot free plant we have planned.

By spring we plan to have the cafe horse float in place which is the first step on our 3 year plan for the Catterick project. Below is the outline of what we are going to do to make Bramble Woods a fantastic community hub for everyone to enjoy.

BFBS Catterick

Alice from BFBS Catterick came along to our coffee in the woods event in January and made this incredible video of the event.  Here you get to see some of the people working behind the scenes in e50K along with our partners at Veteran’s Woodcraft who are improving the boardwalks and bridges in the area making them safer for members of the community to use.

What’s been happening in Catterick

There has been lots going on at Catterick with members of the community coming together for our Halloween event, Christmas market and coffee in the woods.

With spooky stories around the campfire and spider webs in the trees, lots of fun was had in the woods at Halloween!

Christmas was soon upon us with the chance for e50K to show the Catterick community the newly designed Welcome Boxes sponsored by Amey.  

With eco-friendly products including cleaning sprays from Smol, compostable sponges, soap from Wild and toilet paper from “Who gives a crap loo roll”, we want to showcase how good quality products can be created from eco-friendly products.  We also have small businesses represented with coffee and tea bags from Warbird coffee and products from Military Spirit - both veteran run companies making a difference to the lives of ex-service members.

Meet Anna:

Anna is our Agricultural and Environmental Officer, based at Catterick Garrison with her serving husband and her cat, Cleo.  She has been a military spouse for two years and is enjoying being able to use her skills as a Secondary School teacher and qualified Nutritionist to create fun and engaging activities in and around Bramble Woods as well as planning our allotment area and the farm to fork initiative!  

e50k brings ‘Plant a tree for the Jubilee’ to Catterick’s Bramble Woods

e50K is working with Woodland Trust as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy to support Armed Forces community members to enhance and develop Bramble Wood, the community woodland in Catterick Garrison.
